UAE's standard:

The document which issued by Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology from as a decision of it’s board of directors specifying the qualities of good or material or service or any applicable metrological item or descriptions, characteristics, dimensions or safety requirements. It also includes the terms and symbols testing and sampling, packaging, labels and tags and denoted by (M Q / UAE) or (UAE.S), issued as a decision of the Board of Directors in accordance with the law No. 28 of 2001

Technical Regulations:

UAE Standards compelled by decision of the Council of Ministers.

Standards Catalogue:

Guide to be issued by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, that includes UAE Accredited standards and Emirates technical regulations adopted, and number, and date of adoption, and the position of implementation, and selling price and across sectors, including affiliates.

Technical Committees of the specification:

The committees formed in accordance with the accredited resolution of the Board of Directors consists of representatives from relevant Government agencies and local communities, academia and the private sector and others, it is responsible for preparing and updating of Emirates standards and technical regulations and functional commissions include the following:
  • Technical Committee for the standards of agricultural products sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of animal products sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of mechanical products sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of electrical products sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of the construction and building materials sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of the chemical spinning and weaving products sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of oil and gas sector.
  • Technical Committee for the standards of the IT sector.
Sub committees or specialized working groups may be formed from each committee.

International Classification ICS:

An international classification hierarchy aims to index the international, regional and national standards and used in the classification of the standards, Consists of three levels:
  • Level I: Consists of 40 fields of standardization activities such as: agricultural automotive engineering and each field consists of two parts.
  • Level II: Consists of 377 sections, each section consists of three parts.
  • Level III: Consists of 789 sub-sections and each subsection consists of the double-digit, for example: 43.040.20 "lighting, means the signal and the warning"
International Classification used in the classification of Emirates standards and put down the outer casing of each standard.

No of Emirates Standard:

A unique number for the Emirates standard which is not repeated with any other UAE standard and may have been accompanied with several parts, such as: part 1, part 2 .... etc.

Coding Emirates Standards:

It is intended that the code number precedes the Emirates Standard and may be as follows:
  • UAE.S 1320: "UAE standards No. 1320".
  • UAE.S / GSO 226: "unified Emirates and Gulf standards No. 226.".
  • UAE.S / GSO / ISO 5516: " unified Emirates and Gulf standards espoused on the ISO International Standard No. ISO 5516.".
  • UAE.S / GSO / IEC 56031: " unified Emirates and Gulf standards espoused on techno electrical standard (IEC (No. 56031.".
  • UAE.S / GSO / CAC 32: " unified Emirates and Gulf standards espoused on international standard for food) Codex (No. 32".
  • UAE.S / GSO / OIML R112 " unified Emirates and Gulf standards espoused on international standards No. 112".
  • UAE.S / GSO / EN 1138: " unified Emirates and Gulf standards espoused on European standards (EN) No. 1138".
  • UAE.S / GSO / ASTM C119: " unified Emirates and Gulf standards espoused on American ASTM test material No. 119.".

Year of accreditation:

The year in which the Emirates Standards were accredited by the Board of Directors of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology and are always attached to the standard number.

The price of the Emirates Standard:

The sale price of UAE standard by Dirham through the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology or the delegated authority in accordance with the system accredited by the its Board of Directors.
